Having started with one small steakhouse, Golden Corral Corporation has grown into one of the nation's strongest family restaurant chains. The ability to adapt to changing tastes allowed Golden Corral to continue growing during the 1980s and 1990s as changes in eating habits and increased competition brought drastic change to the family steakhouse business. Success continued in the 2000s as well--by 2003 the company operated and franchised 467 restaurants throughout the United States, serving 167.5 million guests that year.

  1. I hope this is similar because the last time I was at a Golden Corral, they no longer were serving their best dessert; Chocolate Chess Pie. I was really bummed!!!

    1. Same here. I left a comment on their website, asking them to bring it back

    2. They brought it back!!! I never eat dessert when I go out to a restaurant; except the chocolate chess pie from GC, and I won't leave there without my pie :)

    3. The GC I used to go to started keeping their chocolate chess pie in the refrigerator, and you had to ask for it.

    4. I just asked the lady in the dessert area. And she had some hiding behind the counter. Lol . I love their Chocolate Chess Pie. Every time I eat it, I do the happy dance.

    5. I was at Golden Corral today and they had the chocolate chess pie on the table between the chocolate fountain and the Ice Cream.

    6. Just had it for the 1st time absolutely loved it. They have it again

  2. It's really an informative and well described post. I appreciate your topic for blogging. Thanks for sharing such a useful post.

  3. I pray this comes out perfectly.

  4. Excellent! My husband and I loved it. My only comment is that next time I won't bother to make the whipped topping. When you compare the cost and trouble, and calories, fat free Cool Whip will do just as well. Otherwise, fantastic!

  5. does anyone know how to alter this recipe to put into a deep pie crust?

  6. I have tried making these copycat recipes. Mine comes out like brownie pie. Never has that rich, lusciousness of Corral's. My favorite!!
